Assault

On July 27, a verbal dispute resulted in the arrest of Jacqueline Lelinho, 41, of Nutley for aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose. Lelinho allegedly closed a vehicle’s power window on the victim’s arm, and attempting to flee, dragged and injured the victim. She also received three motor vehicle summonses: leaving the scene of an accident with injuries, failure to report an accident and reckless driving. Her vehicle was impounded as a result of the incident. Bail was set at $60,000.

Possession

On July 27, David Loza, 22, of Nutley was charged with possession of marijuana during a fire inspection of his dwelling. Firefighters alerted police, who assumed possession of the controlled substance, called the resident home and charged him with possession of illegal contraband.

Obstruction

On July 24, a juvenile was observed standing along Route 21 South in the late evening. There was no car in the area, and upon investigating, the juvenile ran from the area. Police were dispatched to the area, and after several attempts of identifying themselves as police officers, the juvenile was apprehended. Also, it was revealed that two juveniles, 13 and 16, were running from the police. The juveniles stated that they ran because they had left a group home in Paterson and did not want to be returned. Both parties needed to be returned to the home, but one of the juveniles was under the care of DYFS. Both were charged with obstruction and released to the custody of DYFS.

Criminal mischief

On July 25, police responded to the area of Hillside Avenue of a report of criminal mischief. The victim stated that, when they went to enter their car that morning, they found the driver’s side door window smashed and a tiki torch placed under the windshield wipers. There were no suspects at the time.

On July 25, a patrol unit observed a white male covered in dirt running out of a residence’s bushes in the area of Edgewood Avenue. Upon noticing the police car, he ran faster to the east. The officer identified himself and yelled for the male to stop, which he did. A field interview resulted in the arrest of a 19-year-old Nutley resident for criminal mischief. He was also charged for consumption of alcohol under the legal age. A check of the residence was conducted, and it was observed that two large stone planters were tipped over, with many plants and flowers ripped out and strewn across the lawn and in the street. There was also a for sale sign that had been torn down. Pictures of the damage and of the actor’s hands were taken and placed into evidence. The name was withheld due to the ongoing investigation. He was released pending a court date.

On July 25, criminal mischief was reported at the construction site of Spring Garden Elementary School. Police observed the fence pushed to the ground, leaving access to the rear of the building. There was writing on the left rear-door window, and four cement sidewalk portions had been inscribed with various pictures and names. The property was not able to be secured so police contacted the Board of Education to make the necessary adjustments.

Outstanding warrants

On July 23, a motor vehicle stop resulted in the arrest of Michelle Infusino, 19, of Bloomfield, for a warrant out of Seaside Heights. Bail was posted, and the warrant executed.

On July 24, a field interview resulted in the arrest of Vincent Rondinella, 22, of Nutley for an outstanding warrant in the township. He was transported to headquarters, the bail was re-assigned to $100 and paid, and Rondinella was released with his new court date.

Burglary and theft

On July 24, a burglary and theft was reported in the area of Chestnut Street. The victims stated that jewelry was missing from the home. There were no signs of forced entry, and the homeowners were having work done on the property. The Detective Bureau was to take over the investigation.

Attempted burglary

On July 23, an attempted burglary was reported in the area of Newark Avenue. The victim stated they noticed pry marks on the side door of the garage. Entry was not gained, and the homeowner was able to secure the door.

Property damage

On July 23, property damage was reported in the area of Race Street. The victim stated that the vinyl siding ( A plastic exterior cladding for a house, used for decoration and weatherproofing, as an alternative to traditional wood siding or other materials such as aluminum or fiber cement siding. It is an engineered product, manufactured primarily f on the east side of the residence was damaged sometime during the night. It appears the damage could have been caused by something falling into the siding from the driveway of the neighbor. No one was aware of how the damage occurred.

Fraud

On July 23, a fraud was reported in the area of Park Avenue. The victim stated that they received a call from someone claiming to be a government agent, who was requesting money. The caller became threatening. The victim was advised to no longer take calls from the number and that the Detective Bureau would be following up.

Suspicious activity

July 27, a local business reported suspicious incidents regarding the return of a particular item to their store by three separate individuals using the same name for identification purposes. The Detective Bureau was notified of the incident.

Found

On July 24, an anonymous party turned in a wallet to police headquarters. The wallet contained identification, and officers were able to locate inform the party that their wallet had been turned in. The victim responded to headquarters, was identified and given their belongings.
